KIRSTY HAMBRICK
Hey! I’m an illustrator, a barista, and a potter. I moved to Baltimore from West Virginia in 2011 and got started in ceramics during my last year at MICA, and quickly realized that working with clay felt like rinsing my brain off in the sink. I took my first classes at the Potters Guild with Anna Crooks in 2016, and have been a frequent student ever since. In 2024 I became a guild member and am enjoying co-facilitating such a great community studio. I throw and handbuild mostly functional pottery and I’m inspired by midcentury illustration, Appalachian quilts, pottery, and folk art, Japanese kuro-oribe and the joy of making and sharing food. Recently I’ve been into mason stain, sliptrailing, making my own color-changing underglaze pencils, mixing clay bodies, and nerikomi.
