GEOFFREY BERRYMAN

Geoffrey has been a student at the Guild and at Baltimore Clayworks since 2019. Ready to abandon ceramics after failing to center on the wheel in his very first class, a sympathetic teacher convinced him to return and it became an obsession. His artistic practice focuses on the technical challenges of large wheel thrown decorative pieces, particularly ancient forms like the Korean moon jar and Roman amphora, with elegant silhouettes and subtle decorative elements. Wood firing is a natural fit for this type of work, providing a large canvas for the flowing glazes and unpredictable variation of flame and ash.
